Atlantic Healthy Oceans Initiative (AHOI), a registered non-profit organization based in Norris Point, NL, partners with local companies and organizations to transition away from plastic use – protecting the long-term health of our oceans and the people who depend on it most. Their goal is to build awareness of our changing ocean and facilitate actions to protect it and the people that depend on it most.
AHOI is working with the tourism industry and 13 local business operators in the Gros Morne area to reduce plastic usage by transitioning to reusable, refillable, and biodegradable containers. In 2021 alone, they ordered 54,000 backyard compostable containers and almost 500 reusable plastic-free containers to be used!
