Avalon Pond Cleanups is a volunteer clean-up initiative run by Eugene Hynes. Over the last five years, Eugene Hynes has spent countless volunteer hours cleaning up and recycling litter and trash pulled from ponds, trails, and beaches along the east coast of Newfoundland. He takes clean-ups to a new level by snorkeling or free diving in ponds and loading the trash into his kayak. Rather than sending his findings to the landfill, Eugene sorts the waste and cleans it up for recycling, reuse, or proper disposal – resulting in approximately 80% of what is recovered being recycled!
