Compost! Feed the soil that feeds us.
International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) is the compost industry’s largest and most comprehensive education initiative. ICAW from May 3rd – 9th, 2026.

Compost feeds our soil.
When we feed our soil, we heighten its quality. Compost conditions the soil, reducing the need for fertilizers and pesticides, improving water retention, and storing carbon. Healthy soils grow healthy crops and produce higher yields. Regardless of scale, composting offers us a responsible way to manage our organic waste, protect the environment, and decrease food shortages.
Celebrate with MMSB and engage with us on social media as we provide composting resources, highlighting the benefits of composting and the environmental importance of diverting organic waste from our landfills.
Follow MMSB on social media for tips on composting at home and in your community!
Meet the Brake family – the masterminds behind West Coast Compost and one of our past Champions for a Greener Future.
What started out as just another homeschool assignment has quickly turned into a rapidly growing business for Chase, Max, Blaire, and their parents – collecting organic food waste for compost from over 30 customers (and counting!) near their home in Stephenville.
